Joining the DFA Network
Welcome to the Digital Freedom Alliance (DFA). We are currently establishing the DFA as a Private Membership Association (PMA). This structure allows us to operate under private contract, ensuring our community remains governed by our own principles rather than external public regulations.
This page explains the difference between Ordinary/Associate Members and Full Members, our governance model, and the current opportunities for participation.
What Does βMemberβ Mean in a PMA?
In a PMA, a member is someone who enters into a private contract with the association and agrees to follow the DFAβs Bylaws, Code of Conduct, and 12 Guiding Principles. This contract takes the relationship out of the public domain and into the private domain, which is the core of how we protect our digital freedom.
Ordinary / Associate Members
The Service Tier
Who this is for:
Ordinary Members are individuals who primarily use DFA services. This includes DFA coaching clients, VWS (Virtual Witness Service) clients, and participants using specific DFA tools or resources.
Role & Obligations:
- Enter into a private membership contract via the Jogger Coaching Subscription.
- Agree to the Code of Conduct and respect the privacy and security of the network.
- Responsibilities are generally limited to the specific services being used. Ordinary members do not participate in governance or voting.
Full Members
The Governance & Project Tier
Who this is for:
Full Members are the “Warriors” and “Trailblazers” directly involved in DFA operations, leadership, or project development.
Governance & Voting Rights:
Full Membership includes a non-transferable Governance Token.
- Earned, Not Bought: This token cannot be purchased, traded, or sold. It is issued based on alignment and contribution.
- Voting Power: This token grants official voting rights within the DFA Foundation / DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization).
- Integrity: Because it is non-transferable, governance remains in the hands of those truly committed to the mission.
Obligations & Responsibilities:
Full Members join via the Trailblazer Coaching Subscription. They carry a higher responsibility to uphold the 12 Guiding Principles and are expected to take an active role in the evolution of the PMA.
Ground-Floor Opportunities for Full Members
Full Members have access to a suite of autonomous tools and collaborative opportunities. Some of these “early-bird” roles will close as the network scales.
- Create Your Own Project: Launch autonomous projects under the DFA umbrella. We don’t interfere as long as you stay within the PMA Bylaws.
- Digital Freedom Warriors (SIG): A Special Interest Group for techies developing 100% legal, private solutions for the digital battleground.
- DFA Advisory Board: A seat on the guiding board that will eventually oversee the DFA Foundation.
- Trailblazer Coaching & Matrix Space: Access to advanced privacy coaching and a private, encrypted “Trailblazer Space” on Matrix.
- Member Service Directory: Advertise your professional services to the DFA community.
- Digital Freedom Store: List and sell products/services using your own payment gateway or the DFA Stripe gateway.
- DFA Nextcloud Server: Private cloud storage for syncing and project collaboration.
- Digital Freeway: A content pipeline to syndicate your articles and media across the DFA Social Network.
- Referral Rewards: Promote DFA Coaching and receive $25 monthly for every active member referred.
Membership Fees & Accessibility
Standard Membership: $75 per year
- Ordinary Members: Accessed through the Jogger Coaching Subscription.
- Full Members: Accessed through the Trailblazer Coaching Subscription.
The DFA is a community-supported network, and we encourage everyone to maintain a paid membership. However, we recognise that value comes in many forms. We have created specific membership exemptions for those who contribute to the movement through active service and skill-sharing rather than financial support.
Beta-Testing Rewards:
Complete our lesson surveys during the beta phase to win:
- 25 One-year memberships (Jogger/Runner)
- 25 One-month memberships (Jogger/Runner)
- 25 Lifetime membership discounts
Contribution-Based Access (Free Subscriptions):
We believe digital freedom should be accessible to everyone. If the $75 fee is cost-prohibitive, you can earn your membership through active contribution:
- Social Media Team: Manage and moderate our official platforms.
- Content Curation Team: Create, review, and curate content for the network.
- Anyone DFA Advisory Board determines is able to make a significant contribution
Governance & Evolution
The DFA PMA Articles of Association and Bylaws are the “living” rules of our community. While the foundation is built on our 12 Guiding Principles, the specific Code of Conduct and operational rules will be developed and evolved by our early Full Members.
